OEO also sponsored exhibits at the annual conferences of the President's Committee on the Employment of the Handicapped, the Federation of Business and Professional Women, the National Urban League, and the League of Latin American Citizens.

The Smithsonian Institution traveling Exhibition Service, the Smithsonian National Associates, the Smithsonian's education offices and various other organization units continue to involve minority and women's organizations in Smithsonian activities. Such activities have included distribution of "VIP" packets containing information concerning Smithsonian events in their areas to presidents of Historically Black Colleges, grants, indefinite and temporary loans of exhibitions to minority institutions and organizations; and sponsoring activities during Black History Month, and Hispanic and Asian Week. Some activities were funded by the OEO.

Civil Rights Compliance

The OEO reports on the Institution's civil rights resources and accomplishments each year to the Office of Management and Budget.

Throughout the Institution, more than 100 employees from some 45 bureaus and major offices directly contribute to the success of the equal opportunity and civil rights compliance programs.
