[[underlined]]Cooperative Education Program[[/underlined]]

The Cooperative Education Program is an employment program developed in 1980 by the OEO, and since January 1983, operated in the Office of Fellowship and Grants. The purpose of the program is to recruit, hire and train minorities for professional positions where minorities are underrepresented. Participation in the program decreased substantially in fiscal year 1985; this is primarily attributable to the difficulty in identifying full-time positions for participants at the completion of the program. Table 29 indicates participation minority breakdown.
