Gage-Babcock has also been responsible for evaluating electrical distribution systems in Smithsonian buildings, with particular emphasis on PCBs as well as on high voltage equipment. To perform the evaluation, Gage-Babcock subcontracted with MET Electrical Testing Co., Inc., whose final report was useful in confirming a number of deficient areas in the maintenance of the Institution's electrical systems. In addition, the report recognized that most, if not all deficiencies, are in the process of correction.

[[underline]] National Postal Museum Update [[/underline]]

The U.S. Postal Service has received proposals from three contractors for the development of Washington's Main City Post Office Building. Two proposals, one with a postal museum and one without, were received from each contractor. All six proposals will be reviewed and recommendations made to the Board of Governors in the spring of 1986. As mentioned in the November 1985 Regents Newsletter, the Smithsonian remains in a holding pattern until a recommendation is made to the Board of Governors and, if a museum is among the proposals presented, a museum development plan is approved.
