CASES AFFECTING SMITHSONIAN INTERESTS:

1. Moye v. Friends of the National Zoo

The plaintiff in this lawsuit is a National Zoological Park policeman who initiated this $500,000 libel litigation in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on February 15, 1985, after being reported by a FONZ employee as a suspect in the theft of a small quantity of cash from a FONZ gift shop. It is the Institution's view that the plaintiff's case lacks merit in fact and law, and therefore represents little risk to the Friends of he Zoo or to the Smithsonian. Discovery is underway.
