THEATRE QUIZ
by Louis Botto

Through the years, the holiday season has brought some glittering shows to Broadway. Can you answer these questions about the three Christmas presents from the past shown here. Clockwise...

(1) "Thank you very much, Kris Kringle," wrote Brooks Atkinson about this splashy Bert Lahr revue on Christmas night, 1936. Name the show, Mr. Lahr's famed co-star and the man who conceived, designed and directed the opulent musical.

(2) On Dec. 26, 1936, this acerbic, all-female comedy scandalized Broadway. Name the play, author and two leading ladies (standing) in the fitting room scene.

(3) Another shocker opened on Christmas, 1940. Name the musical and the singer (shown here with Gene Kelly) who stopped the show with her comic strip song, "Zip!"
