[[De]]cidedly old fashioned and literally covered with dust, cobwebs and spiderwebs were the only decorations.

A shudder ran through Alice's body, "Take me away from this house, Bob, its haunted," she pleaded almost hysterically. Bob turned around to open the door but the rusty lock refused to yield to his struggles. Alice ran to the room at the right of the hall with the intention of escaping through the window but the moment she reached the window but the moment she reached the door, it shut with a bang. Bob rushed to the opposite room but met with the same fate. Bob's face was as white as a sheet. "It seems that we are here for the night, sister," he whispered hoarsely, let's see if we are allowed to go upstairs," he added with a faint smile, putting his arm around his sister and drawing her towards the stairway. They went slowly up the steps expecting to see anything in this mysterious and uncanny house. There was not another sound in the whole house except their regular foot-steps on the bare floor.

A large bed room met their view at the head of the stairs. Alice drew back clutching the lapel of her brother's coat. "I am afraid of this place, Bob." But you must get some rest, dear, I will watch over you if we can get in the room," He responded, half leading, half dragging her to the room. As they entered the room the door started to close and Bob grabbed it with Herculean strength but to so avail, for it made them its prisoners.
