Billie Holiday

The first lady of song on New York's famed 52nd St, and the highest paid, began her singing career at the age of 15, at Jerry Preston's Log Cabin Club in New York. The Baltimore born girl was Esquire's Top Female Vocalist for 1944 and 1945. Her recording of "Lover Man" and "Strange Fruit" has sold over a million copies.
