It's Jumping Time at "Sloppy" Joe's [[image - black & white photograph of people standing and sitting at "Sloppy" Joe's [[box]] News Round Columbus Town [[image - black & white photograph of Gregory Edward in a suit and hat]] Just to see the well-groomed gals and guys strolling up and down the avenue in their new fall 'togs', boy these cats are really sharp. But as we all know its a crime to go around nude; so girls if its silk and fur coats you like-- silk and fur coats it must be. To the ladies of Columbus town I must say they are tops in every respect-- socially important, well-mannered and the latest in vogue; it's very difficult for me to give you a word picture of so many beautiful ladies. Of course, coming from me, it would be like building a pedestal of dreams to place them on, so I will have to let "Ernestine" tell you what it's all about. So don't let the war get you down if "Hitler" takes Czechoslovakia, Austria and Poland. NEWS! Broadcasting from the Macon Hotel over station "M-I-X", this is Columbus, Ohio... not London, England, but we have our black out. The nite clubs are closing one and all on the hour, but sunshine will drive away the blues. The closing of the baseball season, and opening of the football season it is very hard to get anything finished in these barber shops, for the "hair-clippers" and "know-alls" beten-up-their gums about "who's who" in the big leagues. Fight fans, war bugs or jitterbugs hold no fears, my lads, when your work's well finished you can gaily say, well done, my man. One would never think, or have any way of finding out anything about depression, we the dark people sill have Mississippi, Arkansas and Georgia in our veins, so I will come to the famous last words of which I sincerely regret, as I am like millions of others just getting my summer vacation out of my veins. And until the November issue of MIX I will say "Thanks a million, pal" one and all for the support of MIX MAGAZINE. I remain, your columnist, --Gregory Edward. [[image - black & white photograph of a group of people chatting with "Sloppy" at "Sloppy Joe's"]] (Top)-- To put this print is useless, because "Sloppy Joe's" nitery out in Kirkwood is the tops in nite life circles. "Sloppy" (indicated by arrow) chats with several of his downtown patrons whose night isn't complete until they pay him a visit. "Sloppy Joe's" as it is known from coast to coast, serves the best in better beers and has the hottest dance music in town. (Below)-- Is a bunch of merrymakers having a bit of fun at Jam-session time, while the "jitters" swing and sway. On your next time out, treck out to Sloppy's for an enjoyable time.
