DECATUR'S HARLEM CLUB

Every City has its Harlem Club, so in Decatur, Illinois, here's its Harlem...
This popular club recently opened to sepias, was formerly the Carolina's Nite Club an ofay spot, but the liberal ofays of Decatur seeing that the Sepias were badly in need of a play spot moved out in their favor, only when Long Creek voters approved a local option petition expelling Taverns from their neighborhood. Celebrating the opening of the Harlem Club on July 23, many of Decatur's socialites were on hand to make merry. Among them (in picture) were Odie Owens, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Copeland, Theodore Perkins, Miss Texas Barnett, Mrs. Otha Anderson, Mr. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Campbell, and Percy Anderson. The socialites from far and near points gather at the Harlem Club nightly to dine and dance. (ATTENTION... MIX can be obtained from Mr. Erskin Smith at 949 W. Cerro Gerdo St., Decatur, Illinois.)

AT THE FRISCO TAVERN

When the town's gloomy, find your way out to Virgil (California Red) Washington's FRISCO TAVERN, 940 Hodiamont. It's the last word in the "J. J.", in other words the "joint jumps". Behind the bar is "RED" himself, Mrs. Bliss Washington the madam and Pet Hogan the mixmaster. The Frisco Tavern serves the best in delicious sandwiches and better beers at all times. Mr. Washington extends a cordial invitation to downtowners to pay him a visit anytime.
