Mixologist Boosters Club Notes

NOTICE to all club members.  The Mix Publishing Company's new office is now located in the PEOPLES' FINANCE BLDG., Room 216.  All members of the Mixologist Boosters' Club are to send all inquiries in care of this address.  Miss Margaret Gaddy is temporarily chairman of the membership committee since the resigning of Miss Martha Vineyard.  Fannie Mae Richardson "Miss Mix of 1939" and treasurer of the club is now at the Happy Hollow Tavern.  Marcella Hall, formerly of the Calumet Grill can be paged at the Green Tree Tavern on North Beaumont.  Mark Perkins wishes all members to know that he is now at the Carioca Bar, "Skippy" Henderson, it was reported, will be connected with the Gates Funeral Home, but "Skippy" is still a loyal member as in the past.  Dollie Washington at press time is yet on the idle list, and taking it easy at 3411a Lawton, Sam Ray and Jimmy Coleman are chief barmasters at the Ville Tap, along with Gladys Nelms and Idella Clemons doing the serving.  The vice-president, Doris Banks is now at the Cafe De-Paris as head waitress.  Two more new members enlisted last week from the Rainbow Club out in Webster Grove, they are Mr. and Mrs. Guybert Monroe. Also these two mentioned members will fight for the "King" and "Queen" of mixologists in the County Contest that is to begin next week, others that will be in the fighting are Frank Ellis and Elizabeth Ellis from "Sloppy" Joe's tavern in Kirkwood... Leslie Jenkins also will be in the race representing the Grand Terrace Tavern, Bill Jenkins' place in Richmond Heights... Pete Hogan of the Frisco Tavern will "push out" for the Frisco out at 940 Hodiamont, with his waitress, which will be announced at a later date... at press time comes news from Joe Turner of Vendome Tavern in Webster that there will be two entries representing his nite life rendezvous. The "Queen of Mixmistresses" Mildred Rhodes is now at Club 49a doing her bits nightly. Lucy Ellis, it was reported, has been ill, but is up and at it again at Leon's Tavern. Ann Ross, the third prize winner will take a flight to Chicago for the Tuskegee and Wilberforce game along with Fannie Mae Richardson, Jackie Wright and Martha Vineyard this week-end... ATTENTION to all BOOSTER CLUB MEMBERS - the next meeting will be held on October 22, Sunday, at the PEOPLES' FINANCE BUILDING, Room 318, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. All be present as plans will be discussed for our first fall dance. Cards will be mailed.

The Gateway Tavern is one nitery that has no dull moments. Its the talk of the town... where friends meet and greet nightly. Louis Johnson, the mixologist, and Lena Holmes make you feel at home regardless. The proprietor Ricks Aldine as usual greets you with a big broad smile nightly at this widely known nite spot.

(Bottom) Snook Theather, well-known K.C.K. undertaker saw to it that Jesse was well entertained when he was his guest at K.C.K. Many were on hand, including Miss Lucille Bluford, managing editor of the CALL publications to make Jesse feel at home.
