Question, by Defendant  Did I sell you two baggs of Cotton
Answer  You did on the 19" day of Jan 1866 or thereabouts as near as I can remember
Q.  What time of Day was the cotton brought to your house
A.  About hour by [[Sun ?]] Jan 19" 1866

Q.  Did the cotton appear as if it had been packed
Ans.  I did
Q.  How much did you buy of Defendant
Ans.  From one hundred to one hundred and Twentyfive pounds

Fanny Overly, Duly sworn upon her oath sayes that she resides in Granvill Co NC that she is not acquainted with Defendant  She first saw him when he brought some cotton to our house to sell her husband  She sayes her husband asked him if he came honestly by the cotton  he said he did  he said he could let him have about three hundred pounds more if he wished  he told my husband it was all right

Defendant afterwards came back and asked if any reports should come against him not to tell whare the cotton came from. My husband told him he should tell if required so to do that he bought it honestly and would not secreet anything
