This day came before me Henry H. Holton a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, John T. Johnson who being sworn saith on oath, that he has lived alternately with Benjamin M Richardson and D. D. Barber, that as to the treatment of the two men, he prefers that of Richardson, he feeding the treating the the best. Richardson has repeatedly given his men advice for their own good. I have known him to protect men of color from the insults of others. I know of no case where he ever promised pay that he has not made the payment promptly. I have been present when he has made settlement with his men of color and have never heard any complaint. I regarded Mr Barber as a secessionist. I have always thought Mr Richardson a consistent Union man  he avoided any political, I am a native of Philadelphia
