I understand that the Carneys announced their purpose to remain at home and have it out, but Joe Tom Moore proposes to give himself up to the military authorities.

I see not how the dignity of the government, the honor of the bureau or the peace of this community can be maintained unless these Carneys and some others in the vicinity are lodged in jail for trial or driven out of the County. They have proclaimed a little war on this our account and it should be fought out without delay
