Christian Davis recalled
I am acquainted with the character of G. W. Meyers. for the last seven years it has been as good (generally) he returne from the south nearly three years before the war. during that time he remained at home and Yadkin institute.

There was not ^[[insertion]] a negro [[/insertion]] on the plantation of Doct Holt in the fall of 1865 that I considered a good hand to work  The negroes there did not work as well as other negroes with whom I have worked with before I went there.
