way that they worked. There was about 100 acres of wheat sowed last fall. Dr Holt wanted to sow much more but could not get the hands to do it. There are thirty four negroes on the plantation at present, old and young, twenty mules, two horses and two jenneys, thirty nine cows thirty six calves, two oxen and three bulls, one hundred and four sheep and twenty six hogs. At Lexington Dr Holt has seven horses, and some other stock. I send supplies from the plantation and mill for the stock at Lexington.

Cross examined
The wheat crop in the country was generally bad last year. I know some that did not make their seed back again. Of the oats made there was nearly fifty bushels to the stack, very little good oats were thrashed.
