Cross examined
^[[insertion]] some of [[/insertion]] Wheelers cavelry told me that they pastured on Dr Holts plantation in the spring of 1865.

Witness G. W. Myers recalled.
I know that Dr Holt offired repeatedly to give the negroes who had formrly been his slaves $100.00 in gold if they would leave his plantation, the reason of this was because they would not work, These negroes evidently had a desire to aggravate myself and Dr Holt by stopping their work in his presence and mine, when told to go to work if they saw proper they would and if not they would'ent, there was not a negro boy or man on the plantation but lost a great deal of time, the women scarcely did anything at all. I could not save the corn crop with the negro hand in the way that
