A tracking system for the past minority interns was established. Preliminary responses (about forty percent) indicate that about sixty percent of the program's alumni are still in school; most of them graduate students.  At least ten past interns were identified who are now temporary of permanent employees.  Efforts to remain in contact with past interns, as well as with all other past minority appointees, will continue and increase since these individuals represent an excellent potential source for future Professional employment.

Native American Awards Program

A number of new Native American initiative developed at the Institution.  As a result of consultations with Native Americans regarding their needs, two types of award were made available.  Internships are offered to Native
