Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Program

The Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Program (FEORP) is administered and operated following instructions provided by the Office of Personnel Management. FEORP is designed to identify minority and female candidates for those categories of employment where the percentage of each ethnic group and women is less than their percentage in the Civilian Labor Force or the Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area, which ever is larger. OPERSA uses data on underrepresentation provided by the OEO to set priorities for recruitment of selected groups.

Federal Junior Fellowship Program

The Federal Junior Fellowship Program (FJFP) is a civil service work-study program which serves as an alternative affirmative action vehicle to identify and employ candidates at the high school level who have demonstrated scholarship and who form a potential source of quality college graduates for entry level positions in Professional, Administrative and Technical occupations.

Awards for Minority Museum Professionals

Begun in fiscal year in 1984 by the OMP with matching funds provided by the OEO, the awards provide opportunities for minority museum professionals to attend specialized workshops and to conduct individual study using Smithsonian collections, expertise, and facilities. The awards are given to minorities working in museums and related institutions to help defray travel and per diem expenses. The usual amount of $500.00 is increased for those residing outside the contiguous 48 states. In addition, the OMP waives the $85.00 to $115.00
