caring for the fishes, joined this department of the museum, Nov. 1, 1882, and has helped us materially in cataloguing the collection.

Mr. H.G. Dresel, midshipman, U.S.N., reported here for duty about the middle of November and has since been busily employed in the work of rearranging the collection.

The assistance rendered by these three gentlemen has enabled me to push the work of cataloguing rapidly forward, and has made an impression upon the great mass of material [[strikethrough]] to be administered upon [[/strikethrough]] now in the possession of the museum.
