our waters.

A remarkable species of pipe-fish,

[[underlined]] Siphostoma crinigerum [[/underlined]] Bean & Dresel Mss.,

allied to [[underlined]] S. crinitum [[/underlined]] (Jenyns) inhabiting the coast of northern Patagonia. It has an extremely short snout (shorter than the eye) and the dorsal rays are only 16 to 17.  The name refers to the minute filaments found upon the head and sides of the body. Two males are described as the types of the species.
