Mr. J.C. Wigglesworth, of Wilmington, Delaware, forwarded an ovary and a spermary obtained from a shad, ([[underlined]] Clupea sapidissima [[/underlined]]). (Accession 15945; catalogue number 37191.)  Mr. Ryder examined these organs and pronounced them to be a genuine instance of hermaphroditism.
