Regionally, she has appeared in 35 musicals including Whoopee, Carousel and Gypsy. Sharon has appeared on HBO's Consumer Reports Special and studies voice with Joseph Scott.
CAROL WOODS (Maybelle), best known as Big Bertha in One Mo' Time, had principal roles in Taking My Turn, Whorehouse, Livin' Fat and I Remember Johnny. Her credits include numerous regional productions, international nightclubs and recordings. "Thank God for everything, He is my Light." "Thanks, Mom."
RUTH BRISBANE's (Mrs. Faye) credits include Raisin and The Wiz on Broadway, One Mo' Time, Show Boat and Dunbar Off-Broadway and South Pacific, Legacy of Bessie Smith and Year of the Mushroom regionally. Her films include The Cotton Club, Moscow On The Hudson, Kojak, The Wiz, The Exterminator and Across 110th Street.
DONALD ACREE (Grover) has been seen Off-Broadway in The Me Nobody Knows, the Bojangles workshop and Betsy Brown, a reading at the Public Theater. He is in the upcoming movie Beer, and appeared in "As The World Turns," "Another World," the Sesame Street Special "Big Bird Goes to Camp" and many commercials. A sports-loving New Jersey eighth-grader, Donald is making his Broadway debut in Grind.
MARION RAMSEY (Vernelle) By the Grace of God is starring in Police Academy I and II as meek-voiced Laverne Hooks, and on B'way was Tina Turner in Rock 'n Roll, The First 5000 Years, and in Eubie.
WYNONNA SMITH (Linette): featured in The Cotton Club as Winnie Williams, co-starred in Disney's Breakin' Through as Amazin' Rae, u/s Broadway's Sophisticated Ladies for Judith Jamison.
CANDY BROWN (Kitty) Audiences hail her return to Broadway, as she brings her special brand of talent and style after many films, commercials, television and her best production - Kyler.
HOPE CLARKE's (Ruby) appearances include Purlie, Don't Bother Me and Hallelujah on Broadway, and Off-Broadway, television and film work and concerts with Alvin Ailey's troupe.
VALARIE PETTIFORD (Fleta): Dancin' first national tour, u/s Judith Jamison in Sophisticated Ladies, Mooche Queen in The Cotton Club, commercials, modeling, choreography and rock & roll.
OSCAR STOKES's (Mike) credits include the role of Smee in the National Touring Co. of Peter Pan with Sandy Duncan.
BRIAN McKAY (Louis), as well as film and TV credits, has appeared in over 85 Equity productions in Canada & the U.S.
HAROLD PRINCE (Director). Also on Mr. Prince's agenda this season: taping of his production for the Chicago Lyric Opera of Madama Butterfly with Anna Tomowa-Sintow. Mr. Prince has been nominated for a Tony Award for his direction of Grind.
FAY KANIN (Book) is the immediate past president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her first Broadway play was Goodbye My Fancy (with Madeleine Carroll and Shirley Booth). Her latest, Grind, has garnered her a Tony nomination. She and her husband, writer-producer Michael Kanin, wrote Rashomon, His and Hers and The Gay Life. Her many screenwriting credits include the Oscar-nominated Teacher's Pet, also written with her husband. In television, Ms. Kanin has won Emmy, Writers' Guild and Peabody awards for "Tell Me Where It Hurts"
