Office of Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and
Abandoned Lands for Robeson County

Lumberton Sept 2nd 1865

This Indenture made and entered into this the 2nd day of Sept 1865 between D F Edmund of Robeson County of the one part and Frank in behalf of his wife. Wright in behalf of his wife.  Weaver and Mathew ^[[insertion]] Betsey [[/insertion]] Freedmen of said County Witnessith that for and in consideration of the said D F Edmund paying to the above mentioned freedmen the following rates.
(to wit) To Frank the sum of eight dollars. He the said Frank leaves the seventh day of [[September?]]. To Wright for his wife the sum of ten dollars and fifty (10.50) cents with the usual rations of food Clothing and ordinary medical attendence To Weaver the sum of four dollars He the said Weaver leaves immediately To Mathew the sum of twenty four dollars He the said Mathew agrees to remain until the first day of January 1866 and to Betsy the usual rations of food clothing and ordinary medical attendence And the aforesaid freedmen with the exceptions of Frank and Weaver who leave immediately and receive as full compensation for their labor since April last the sums attached to their respective names. do hereby bind and oblige themselves to render true and faithfull service to the said D F Edmund obeying all his lawful command as they had been doing when they were slaves until next January.
