Head Quarters Sub Dist of Robeson
Lumberton N.C. Sept 1- 12th 1865

This Indenture made and entered into on the 12th day of Sept A.D. 1865 between A Stewart of the county of Robeson and state of N. Carolina of the first part and the undersigned freed laborer of the second part, Witnesseth that the said A Stewart agrees to pay the said laborer six bushels of corn from the 27th of April to the 27th August A.D. 1865. And the said Laborer does futher agree to remain from 27th of Aug. the the 1st day of Jan A.D. 1866 for his usual rations of food Clothing and ordinary medical attendance and also food clothing and medical attendance for his wife and child.
