Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Lumberton Robeson County N.C. Sept 22nd 1865 This Indenture made and entered into on the 22nd day of Sept A.D. 1865 between Samuel Thompson of the County of Robeson on the one part and the undersigned Free Laborers of the second part witnesseth that the said Samuel Thompson agrees to pay the said laborers the following rates till the 1st of January A.D. 1866. To Isaac for his wife Margaret $5.00 in current money. To Sampson for his wife Anna the same. Owen Barnes twenty bushels of corn. To Lias for his wife Harriette her victuals and clothing. To Alfred for his family $10.00 victuals and clothing and a calico dress. They in their part agree to serve him faithfully obey all lawful commands as in times past. They are to receive the usual rations of Food clothing and ordinary medical attendence.
