Lumberton Sept 27th 1865

This Indenture made and entered into this 27th day of Sept 1865 between James Blount ^[[insertion]] Planter [[/insertion]] of Robeson Co of the first part and Joseph Blount a free laborer of the second part Witnesseth that the above named James Blount agrees covenants and binds himself by these presents to pay to the said free laborer 10 bushels of corn a fat shoat and to let him have his own use and benefit every Saturday of each and every week until next Christmas, with the usual rations of food clothing and medical attendence and the said free laborer on his part agrees covenants and binds himself to work faithfully ten hours each day to be respecful and obedient in his deportment and to receive the above compensation in full of all demands for his labor from April 27th to December 25th 1865.
