Lumberton N.C Sept 27th 1865

This Indenture made and entered into this the 27th day of Sept A.D. 1865 between T. J. Morisey of the first part and the undersigned Freed laborer of the second part Witnesseth that the above named T. J. Morisey agrees covenants and binds himself by these presents to compensate the said Free laborers for their labor on his plantation until Jany first 1866 as follows to wit every sixth day or Saturday of each & every week until Jnury with 12 whole days as the exigencies of the plantation and the regular carrying on of this work will admit of being given unto them consecutively or at intervals This given to said freedmen for their own use and benefit and he further agrees covenants and binds himself to permit them on the above [[??]] days the free use of his woods and lands to cut abd appropriate to their own use and benefit hardwood and pine wood for firewood which they may dispose of and apply to their own use and benefit and also his ox team to carry said firewood to market in the town of Lumberton. He also agrees to furnish said Freedmen with quarters for themselves and their families with sufficient meal to [[bread??]] the same untill the first of January next. And the undersigned Freedmen or laborers on their part agree covenants and by these presents do bind themselves to accept the above compensation in full of all demands for their labor
