This Indenture made and entered into this 13th day of Oct. 1865 between Brown McCallum Planter of Robeson Co. of the one part, and the free laborer Dave McCallum. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of fifteen Bushels of Corn and one hundred lbs of Pork to be paid to the said Dave, by the said Brown McCallum, he the said Dave agrees covenants, and by these presents binds himself to do all labor common to the farms of the country, to serve ten hours per day, and to be faithful and efficient in the discharge of all the duties that may devolve him as a hired servant with alacrity and respect, obeying all lawful commands as he had been acustomed to the ^[[insertion]] when he was a Slave [[/insertion]] until the end of the present year. He is further more to receive the usual rations of food with clothing and medical attendance, which with the above named compensation will be in full of all demands against the said Brown McCallum for labor during the year 1865
