Contract for Labor
This Indenture made and entered into on the first day of January A D. 1866 between Henry E. Odom of the County of Edgecomb and State of North carolina of the first part and the undersigned free laborers of the second part Witnesseth that the laborers have agreed to work for the said Odom from this date to the first day of January A D. 1867. The undersigned Cary Bellamy agrees to pump water at Battleboro station on the W & W. R. Road to furnish a sufficient Quantity of water for all the Trains that may ^[[insertion]] pass [[/insertion]] night or day & to attend to the station as a station hand and to cut wood when not otherwise engaged pumping water, and the undersigned Carter Bellamy agrees to cut wood at the station & to get cord wood, when cutting at the station is to cut three cords per day & when gitting cord wood in the woods he is to get at the rate of seven and one half cords of good sound wood & cord the same per week and to be inspected by the by the said Odom or his agent, and the undersigned Noah Bellamy agrees to cut split & cord at the rate of seven and one half cords of four foot wood of good and sound timber per week or three hundred & ninety cords for the year said wood is to be cut according
