As Mama seldom got up before twelve, and Papa took a nap in the afternoon, and perhaps Mama would be in the sitting room talking to Mr Y. or reading.

This afternoon was rather different - I will tell you. We have always gotten on very well together and laughed and joked a lot. Then of course seeing each other so much we would sometimes sit quite still for a little while looking at the ocean.

Its been rough all day, but this afternoon after lunch it got worse than

ever and the spray flew wildly about. I got all nicely tucked up with my cape round me and feeling very happy making castles in the air when Mr Evans came along as he always does and took up a rug and make himself comfortable on the chair next to me. We talked about some people in New York I found out to-day he knew and we joked about his bad luck and strong will (for I told his fortune) & altogether were getting on very well.
