to Mr Appleton who was so nice that I believe in the whole world there is no one quite as nice. Really and truly I can think of no one else. He is the best-looking man I have ever known and he is simply a brick. Mr. Cottenet is extremely nice to me, he is coming in to-morrow late to have a long talk. Let us hope no one will interrupt us.  Mo is coming this afternoon early, he was worse then usual last night.  I wish I could see my way clear with him.  Sometimes I think he only cares for me as a friend & other times I think there is more in it.  We get on

well together, but gracious sakes alive that is [[underlined]] all [[/underlined]].  I am going to tell Mr Cottenet that tomorrow.  I wonder if he will believe it.  We will see.  I also want to talk over with him friendship and society etc.  To think that a week ago I should have cared so and now - But I must lay my plans.  Shall I run MS - to the death and then tell him I thought it was only friendship between us, or shall I put a stop to the hunt halfway & spoil the sport?  Thats the question, or else put it in this form, shall I be
