[[underline]] May 7th 1895 [[/underline]].

My ride with Harry Robbins was extremely nice. We always get on well together, though we are not either of us wildly excited. I think Mr Sands will come this afternoon.
^[[smudged heavy ink area - may be a sketch covered up (see sketch on next page) - it is several inches in size]] I wonder why he has kept away so long. Perhaps he does not care any more. I promised Esther to go down and see her this morning but it's so hot I don't know whether I shall have the courage. It's such a long pull.

Ride with Mo very nice. Mr Sands did [[underline]] not [[/underline]] come. I don't believe he will call any more. It will be rather a relief though I like him certainly quite well. I did not go down to see Esther yesterday & did not send her a note. Ah me. It's so warm I should love to be in the country. In three weeks and a few days we will be in Lenox. Think how lovely! I am so lazy, I can't do anything at all but loaf. If this little fellow would keep himself more out of [[image - drawing of winged cherub with arms crossed]] the way I might be able to accomplish more, but there he hovers and refuses to move on.
