One day some time ago when we were out on the Electra he & Bobbie Van Cortlandt and I were talking together & joking and somehow we got on the subject of weddings & presents. Mr Van C. said he had had to buy so many lately that if I became engaged I would receive

nothing from him. I said all I wanted from my friends was their photographs in frames. We joked etc about it & so some time after [[underlined]] he [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]]asked[[/strikethrough]] made some reference to it. I laughed and said I would have to wait a long time for his photo if I received it only as a wedding present which led to his bringing it to me that last night.

The next day on Saturday I rode with Mr Stewart & he was nicer than [[underlined]] he has ever been before [[/underlined]]. He certainly thinks he loves me or wants to think so. Well I can
