Last night - which was it - the happiest or the sadest of my life? But why one or the other. Not surely the happiest - and why unhappy? My answer remains to be given in years to come.

I fussed so over my appearance that I was late. It took me

longer to dress than it has ever taken me in my life. First I took a bath, then I did my hair, and finally I got to my dress. It was an all white one, not a bit of color about it, just a little gold [[strikethrough]]around[[/strikethrough]] on the waist. I think its almost the prettiest dress I have ever had. Dinner was announced a few minutes after I got in the room. Mr Barnes came to me - "Jim"!! I knew before he was to take me in. He said:
"I am to have the pleasure."
"How nice" I said spontaneously.
