They may come in handy to supplement this diary...More VIP around this evening including a few MIT engineers and those from Radar Magazine...The SeeBees have been making fine progress on the airstrip but only after General Mickey Moore ate them out...I thought perhaps I'd get that letter off to the CAA but the typewriter in the office was broken. Ended up by taking $1.17 from Katz in a two-handed game of gin rummy.

Slept from 1:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. this morning, the first uninterrupted sleep I've had in months...Flocks of fighter aircraft took off this morning. I think they went to beat up some airfields near Tokyo...Heard rumors of a 700 plane raid of B-29's with a fighter escort but for some reason it was postponed for tomorrow. 700 big boys. Some Jap city is going to catch hell... Learned that a P-51 stalled and spun in over Walnut yesterday.The plane and pilot were smashed beyond recognition.
We made some experimental runs this aftern oon using different kinds of glide paths and approaches. In the same vein we started the much discussed blind landings by using a P-61 to lead in a B-51 which flies in off the wing of the former. It worked out pretty well.
