the poor guy - he'll be in the hospital for a long time.  Some of the fellows stupidly envied his going, back to the States but I'd rather stay on Iwo than to go back in that condition.  Guam was immediately notified so I imagine Cap't Jolley will be here very soon.  Wonder who will be our new officer in charge.  There isn't one on the island who knows GCA - probably very few in the entire Pacific area.  We can carry on alright without Spence but I know an officer will be assigned to us.  I guess the latest development will snafu that Guam experimental deal.

     Here's the way we are working now: Crew #1 goes on the alert from breakfast until lunch.  Crew #2 works from lunch until supper.  Crew #1 goes on from supper until after breakfast the following day.  Then crew #2 goes on from breakfast until lunch... One day I'd be on duty for twelve hours, the next day I'd be on for eighteen hours... That way we get every other night off...

     Pat graduated from college, I learn via the mail and went home to New York.  Elain e graduated also...Looks like an invasion of the China mainland is not far off... We may go in on it...Small (150) plane
