Planes spun down and crashed into each other. Only two pilots were saved...

Only practice though - it was CAVU. Lt. Black was down this evening to watch the runs and asked that we phone him should it sock i over the island. However, though it's difficult to say with any authority, it appears that the spell of bad weather for this part of the world is about over...The only thing holding up continuous bombing of the Japanese homeland is the bad weather between Iwo and Japan and accompanying cloud cover or bad weather over the target... Haven't heard from Eddie since he left Iwo for Tinian.

Another warm, clear day. This continuous good weather makes me uneasy. The 7th Weather Command won't (can't) commit themselves. We have so little history on weather for this region that any accurate forecast is impossible. It is that plus the fact that the weather for
