This afternoon five new GCA men arrived with an officer. They were originally assigned to the Phillipines but no unit had arrived there so until it does they are up here to pick up a few pointers from us. Little Jordan was one of the five; I knew him from Truax Field. How long ago that was. They arrived by plane. They further volunteered the information they had received the Phillipine liberation ribbon even though they hadn't seen a bit of action and a battle star to go with it! And they had arrived there only two weeks ago. Now I know how the infantry feels when the rear area troops who arrive when the fighting is over in a sector receive the same battle stars as the guy who really sees action. Now get this - the fellows on Team Two in the ETO have received three battle stars.
That's Fifteen points... A P-47 had crashed into Team Four's unit in the ETO and wrecked it completely.
Luckily nooone was in the trailer at the tiime...These new men, part of Team Seventeen, Said that our Team, Team One, Has a teriffic reputation back At Ft. Dix and they also said that Captain Jolley back at Guam is one of our greatest boosters.
