30 June 1945
Sacked most of today. I think I am fully deserving of the title Sack Star Raskin but of course I won't admit it.
How it happened I'll never know but after two and a half months the first of my packages arrived today. One package contained delicacies which were strangely anachronistic on this rock. Stuff like anchovy paste, liver spread, cheddar cheese, dried bannanas,and, get this- pate de foie dras! No caviar?
We had a meeting of AACS in the new theater area just erected right in our own backyard. The Walnut Tower men received letteres of commentation from the 21st Bomber Command for their work in landing b-29's.
Earlier this afternoon I read the play "One Touch of Venus". Some of the cracks were very, very good. "The pantie is mightier than the pant" and  "Love is not the distant wail of a violin - its the triumphant twang of a bedspring". I've learned one thing out here - a Man can learn to get along without women but he hatess doing it.
