This evening I watched a heavy raid of Dreamboats going over.

July 4 1945

Today is a national holiday back home but here it's no different than any other Wednesday. (I wish I had just one glass of fresh milk). The fighters took off this morning, one of them just missing crashing into our unit.  He ground-looped nearby.  Pretty well smashed up and carrying rockets at that.  Fonshu-bound, but not that guy.

Heard a story about the maximum time for anyone to stay on this island.  Six months.  Because of the sulphur.  I don't believe it.  Right now I am so full of sulphur that if I were to fall on a gravel road I'd burst into flames.

Heard another story, this one about the PBJ's.  It seems that there was this PBJ, see?  And it was nosing around Tokyo harbor looking for business to make with the rockets.  This was at night.
