another notice appeared saying that tee shirts would be permitted inside the messhall.  How are we to wear tee shirts in the messhall if [[strikethrough]]we[[/strikethrough]] the messhall is outside the area?

I have been buying black Navy-style cotton socks at the SeeBee's canteen.  Because I cannot wear the regulation wool or wool-cotton socks I am forced to buy the non-regulation black type.

The new men are shaping into a team and more and more are being left on their own.  Only once in a while do I offer any suggestions but I still check things to make certain they don't blow the damn set up by improper use of high voltage.

This evening I opened a can of sardines and dined on sardines, salty crackers and my weekly ration of coke.  For the third time this week I have elected to skip supper because it was just too hot to go down ther and sweat out the line.  Hence about nine o'clock in the evening I'd get hungry again and invade the food package from home.

The fighters socked Tokyo again this morning and returned with seven missing. At the most there are only about two or three planes and pilots from the original squadrons on Iwo. Inevitably they will go out one day and fail to return. A guy can run his luck just so far...
