we put in four screws. The time was consumed in trying to understand the book of instructions and also in setting up blocks of wood like ten pins in a bowling alley anf firing stones at them to knock them down.
They are signing up volunteers for another task force and I'd like to go on it but I'm afaraid it won't do any good. GCA is stuck here and there's nothing wecan do about.it.

I have started what I laughingly call a mustache. At least it will give me something with which to be concerned. Of such stuff is life made.
For the first time in over six weeks I went up to Walnut Field. It has been changed vastly in so short a space of time. "1st Bomber Command has practically taken it over. There are no more fighters there. They are all either at Maple Field or Pearl Field. Six or seven B-29's lie grotesque and broken by the side of the runway. Hanger queens.
Lee has finally returned my picture which I requested. She thinks it will be sent to another girl. With the absence of mail, little does she know that I am considering an application for the Brush-Off club. Of course I really have no cause to complain - It's been over a week since I8ve written to anyone.
