The overnight stop at Lisbon is necessary in this early stage while applications for permission to fly directly across Spain are pending before the Franco Government and also until clearances have been obtained for after-dark landings at Marseilles.
Elapsed time fro the flight from the United States to Lisbon, the first point in Europe (allowing for differences in local times) is 22 hours. To Marseilles the actual elapsed time is 44 hours.
For the 241/2-hour flight from the United States to Great Britain, the Clippers will leave Port Washington, beginning June 24 at 7:30 a.m. EST Saturday mornings. At points enroute the schedule is as follows (local civil time): Arrive Shediac, 12:30 p.m.; leave Shediac 1:30 p.m.; Arrive Botwood, 4:30 p.m.; Leave Botwood, 6 p.m. for an overnight flight to arrive Foynes 8:30 a.m. Sunday; leave Foynes 9:30 a.m. Sunday and arrive Southampton 1 p.m. Sunday.
Westbound the Clippers will leave Southampton at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and fly to Foynes arriving at 3:30 p.m. Taking off again at 4:30 p.m. they will fly overnight to Botwood at 5:30 a.m. Thursday they will arrive Shediac at 10:00 a.m., leaving Shediac at 11:00 a.m. and arrive Port Washington at 2:00 p.m.
