B. O. Davis, Jr.
Passes Exam
For West Point

Chicago, Ill. - Benjamin O. Davis, jr., son of the ranking Negro officer in the U. S. Army, Col. Benj. O. Davis, has been notified by the War Department that he passed both the physical and mental examinations for entrance to West Point. He was nominated one of two principals to take the West Point examination by Congressman Oscar DePriest early this spring.

The other principal, according to reports, failed in the physical test.

Young Davis, who is 19, is now a senior at the University of Chicago and is majoring in mathematics. He will report at West Point on July 1.

After attending public school in Washington, D. C., he took high school work at Wilberforce, I., Tuskegee Institute and graduated with honor from Central High School, Cleveland, He took his freshman year of college work at Western Reserve University, Cleveland. 

He is the only son of Col. Davis, who is hopeful that his son will complete the regular four year course at West Point. If he does, he will be the first colored man to do so in more than forty years.
