Trying to project what the animals might do & how to wean them from humans is everyone's chief concern.

Jim sees that they are too tied to humans as a benign characteristic of their environment.

[although Ben describes an experiment with a toad where #6 and a second animal jump down & bite at toad & then go into convulsions for 3 hours -
