he heard that Jap. company Copita got OK to use 3000 ha of INCRA land which we were trying to have IBDF annex to RBPA.

Despite all the letters from the U.S. to IBDF & INCRA, including S. Dillon Ripley which I worked on from last September, it looks as tho we lost the fight. Jim is pretty upset.

Later we hear from Lou Ann that 5 GLTs were seen at the illegal animal fair near Rio, the previous Sunday.

it would take to close it down (lots of $ & political clout)-

Lots of wealthy Brazilians visit the fair on Sundays & purchase birds & primates as pets.

For RBPA, Jim upset @ Copita getting land since they will be building a vegetable farm abutting Reserve & using insecticides, all of which will have an impact on the Reserve & this project.
