In the evening Lou Ann has baked a chicken & made a rice & veggie dish which is outstanding. Dinner includes only Jim, Lou Ann, B & B & Rosa since all the students are gone, as are the film crew. Beate then bakes some banana cake for a lunch which Jim & Ben cooked up to get Coimbra out to the Reserve. Tomorrow also happens to be Coimbra's birthday. I'm increasingly annoyed with Beate since she puts herself down in a very intrusive manner and is constantly offering to give or lend things which you do not really want. But always [[end page]] [[start page]] with some feeling of "hitch" attached. [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]]She bought me some canned palmitos & pickles & told me that I needn't pay since it was in exchange for lending her bicycles at Chincoteague. Lou Ann seems pale, tense & at end of her rope. She clearly has too much too worry about the luncheon tomorrow & wants desperately to avoid [[strikethrough]] it [[/strikethrough]] having responsibility for it since she has so much else to do. Ben generally cheerful, but also tense at times. Anyway a very peaceful dinner & early night.
