Jim made a brief speech thanking him and when we left, I wondered what we had accomplished. It was a very formal meeting, and I wondered what the President knew or cared about. (Later we heard that he was planning to resign in about Oct. & the only reason he was in was to get IBDF functioning. Joesio & he both appear to be administrators. (They are both supposed to be economists). Interestingly Joesio was firm in wanting to get organized & obtain results and he spent a lot of time w/ us. (Even called the State Dept. personally the next day). He kept telling his people to develop standardized procedures & write them down. Other than that he acted like a bit of an obnoxious arrogant asshole.

to write the DN; Director saying 
[[circled]] 1 [[/circled]] that the Int Mgmnt Comm. is happy to assist IBDF in whatever manner to take action to bring the Japanese, Belgian & French animals under IBDF ownership & MC. control and [[circled]] 2 [[/circled]] asking DN to appoint a rep./delegate to the Intern. M.C. from the DN.

After the interview we return to the DN office & discuss issues a bit more with [[strikethrough]] Raquel [[/strikethrough]] Cantarelli re: the GHLT shipment. Jim tries to explain about ownership & animal records

Dinner with Jordan Wallauer & wife Marta and Patrick Dugan, young, & a Scot just hired by WWF/IVCN; Glands to coordinate their wetlands programs. Is involved in dvlpmnt of plans for Pantanal which is Jordan's new Commission.

Jordan pleased with having a job that permits him to read, think & be creative. We eat a superb meal of "carne do sul."! Then back
