[[underline]]SECTION XIV[[/underline]]
[[underline]]MAIL[[/underline]]
1.[[underline]]Mail Orderlies:[[/underline]]Organization commanders and department heads will appoint one or more mail orderlies whose duties will be to receive all mail for his organization from the Post Office and Message Center, Post Headquarters. Upon designation of a mail orderly, authorization of same in writing will be furnished the Postal Office in duplicate, signed by the organization commander. The Postal Officer will forward one copy to the U.S. Post Office from which the Army Mail is received. 
2. [[underline]]Incoming Mail:[[/underline]] When mail roaches the individual units it will remain at all times under the personal custody of the Charge of Quarters, First Sergeant, or other person designated to distribute the mail. This person has the responsibility of seeing that the mail is properly protected until delivery is made personally to the addressee. Each man will be [[underline]]HANDED HIS OWN MAIL.[[/underline]] Mail [[underline]]WILL NOT [[/underline]] be placed in boxes, pigeonholes, or on beds where it would be accessible to others. All letters opened by mistake will be indorsed and signed by the person opening same.
3. [[underline]]Outgoing mail:[[/underline]] Organization commanders and department heads will provide suitable [[underline]]LOCKED BOXES [[/underline]] in which outgoing mail will be deposited by individuals. Such mail will be collected by the designated MAIL Orderly and taken to the Post Office.
4. [[underline]]Registered and Insured Mail:[[/underline]] There will be an unbroken chain of receipts from the time the letter or parcel is received at the Post Office until it is delivered to the addressee. Outgoing registered or insured mail will be taken by the individual sender to the Post Office for mailing.
