MARRIAGE
Americans believe in the family and in marriage; however, we are living in an age when marriage requires more stamina, more knowledge and more character than ever before. Marriage offers certain opportunities to men and women. It offers an opportunity to know and love another human being different from the self, to know companionship and friendship. Nothing is more important.
In order to make marriage a success, it will be well to follow these rules:
1. As long as love is recognized and admitted, there is a good chance for ultimate successful marriage. Don't be afraid to admit it and hold on to it.
2. The likelihood of success in adjusting and maintaining a marriage is tremendously increased if there is no infidelity or jealous suspicion of infidelity.
3. Couples, as long as they are bound together by marriage, should keep passionate affectional relations alive. Sex alone cannot make a marriage successful, but it can help couples over many a seemingly dangerous and impossible barrier.
4. Marriage success is possible when two people keep alive their tender thoughtfulness of each other. The negative corollary to this ((?)): don't, no matter how bitter the temporary feeling during marriage discord, allow the essential gentleness toward the other to be buried.
5. Failure to meet the problem of indebtedness straightforwardly, however difficult the problem, will jeopardize marriage success badly.
6. Whatever your legitimate complaints, however heavy the burden already upon you, don't make home an unhappy place to come to. Don't make a bar seem a happy refuge.
We should remember the marriage is not an escape or refuge. Marriage does not guarantee security, being cared for or being loved. Marriage guarantees nothing but experience. Becoming ready for marriage can use all one's skills, abilities and knowledge. Making a success of marriage can use all that one is and all that one can become.

R S V P

Literally translated, R S V P is an abbreviation for the French phrase, repondez s'il vous plait. In English, this means Answer, if you please. Whenever this abbreviation is indicated on an invitation, you should answer in writing or in the manner requested.

Membership,
The membership committee was notified that four officers' wives had recently come to this station; namely Mrs. Flora Doggett, Mrs. Betty Pleasant, Mrs. A. J. Coignet and Mrs. Archie Williams.
